RecycleMania @UIC

RecycleMania Press release:

The Office of Sustainability and Facilities Management are proud to announce that the University of Illinois at Chicago has entered a national recycling competition called RecycleMania. Over 350 colleges and universities will be participating in the 2009 RecycleMania competition that begins on January 18 and concludes on March 28.

The goal of this competition is to increase awareness of campus recycling. All participating schools are required to report measurements (pounds of recycled materials divided by campus population) on a weekly basis. Updates on UIC's results will be updated on the Office of Sustainability's RecycleMania webpage.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged participate in the RecycleMania competition by recycling the following materials in existing bins. Occupants in buildings without bottles and cans recycling are encouraged to bring such recyclables to the nearest UICycle building (visit http://fmweb.fm.uic.edu/UICycle/bldg_list.html for a list of such buildings).

Bottles and cans:
Aluminum Cans
Steel Cans
Plastic Bottles (all numbers)
Glass Beverage Bottles (all colors)
Aluminum Foil (clean)

Paper Products:
White and Colored Paper
Glossy Paper
Envelopes, including Window
Newspapers and Magazines
NCR (carbonless paper)
Copy-Paper Ream Wrappers
Post-it Notes
Chip Board (e.g. tissue boxes)
Brown Paper
Hard-Bound Books
Cardboard Boxes (should be broken down and placed behind the recycling bins)
